It’s time to save (and monitor, and generate!) energy

After the DEHEMS project launched their new energy monitoring service, I thought I would take a look into the world of energy monitoring technology.  Not least becasue I’ve taken a sudden interest in Solid State Lighting (LED).

What I discovered was that you can make your own DIY web energy monitoring solution from CurrentCost and Google Power Monitor via your own broadband connection.  Some smart ass has even done the coding for you.

Why am I doing this? Well, I’ve noticed a community based grant for energy saving/creation which is based on completly bottom-up appraoch.  My plan is to generate momentum for the “big energy race” which I want to hold locally.

Stay tuned!
